Although Smith and Oyelowo haven’t worked together on the big screen, the two have established their respective production companies with their wives.Oyelowo co-founded his company Yoruba Saxon in 2014 with his wife Jessica Oyelowo, who aspire to, ‘shift the culture and colour outside the lines.’ Smith, likewise launched Westbrook Studios in 2019, which he co-founded with his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, Miguel Melendez and Ko Yada.
The novel, said to be published June 14 by Simon & Schuster, was written by a Nigerian-born and British-raised journalist Tola, Okogwu.“Onyeka and the Academy of the Sun” tells the story of a teenager who discovers she has powers and journeys to Nigeria to find out more about her heritage, where she finds out there is a threat to her newfound magical community.
