Shekarau stated this while responding to questions from the BBC Hausa service.

According to him, “We have been talking with my brother, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for a long time, because we are worried about the future of Kano. He explained that they decided to leave the APC because of the party’s injustice and the leadership crisis in the Ganduje-led faction.
