of West Ham interest in Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu have been rubbished by the club’s manager, David Moyes.

Moyes’ side have been linked with Onuachu, who has 11 goals in 15 games so far this term, after he scooped three awards – the Ebony Shoe award, Professional Footballer of The Year and top scorer’s awards in Belgium last season. The Nigerian, who has also been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, was mentioned in a report claiming that the Hammers were monitoring his situation at Genk before he signed a one-year extension at the club last month.

The front man has so far scored 56 goals with seven assists in all competitions for Genk since he arrived two years ago from Midtjylland. Speaking ahead of his side’s Europa League Group H home clash against Genk on Thursday in a press conference on Wednesday, Moyes said, “I don’t want to disappoint you in any way, but he wasn’t someone we really had in any consideration.
