The leader of the Igbo Community and Eze Ndigbo in Lagos State, Eze Christian Uchechukwu Nwachukwu has said he has no plans to leave the for any other party. He also stated that the Igbo community under his watch is neither abandoning the party nor its President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government in the future.
Describing the rumour as a mere ploy to smear his good profile, the Igbo community leader nevertheless warned perpetrators of such fake news to desist in the interest of the political stability of the state and country. Apart from the good relationship, Eze Nwachukwu noted that the APC government has been magnanimous in appointing some members of the Igbo Community to key offices in the Lagos State Government, including Mr Ben Akabueze who is currently the Director-General of the Budget Office of the Federation.Again, Eze Nwachukwu said that in 2017, he mobilised all members of Ndigbo in Lagos to show solidarity for the success story of Lagos at 50.
Former two-term member of Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Jude Chukwuemeka Idimogu, who was in the forefront of the Igbokwenu4Asiwaju campaign group acknowledged that the Igbo community in Lagos, led by Eze Nwachukwu, is strictly APC and in great support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government.
“Our Yoruba brothers and sisters should have that understanding that politics is a game, it has come and gone. Now is the time for governance. As long as our leader is on that throne, every Nigerian is under him. There is no party politics now,” he said. “Nobody can take whatever does not belong to him. As far as we know, he is one of the leaders of Igbo community in Lagos.
In 1999, the Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos State issued Eze Nwachukwu a certificate as the duly elected Eze Ndigbo of Lagos State after his coronation.
