The Police in Edo State have arrested a suspected cultist who had been on the wanted list of the police and 20 others for various crimes in the state.

Parading the suspects, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adegboye , said the suspects were arrested for armed robbery, cultism, murder, conspiracy impersonation, unlawful possession of firearm, illicit drug and vandalism.

“This has been a season of harvest of criminals. The suspects were arrested within a period of two weeks and all this was done to make Edo safe for citizens to carry out businesses in the state,” he said. The police boss said three cut-to-size single barrel guns, two locally made pistol guns and four live cartridges were recovered from them, while they will soon be charged to court.

President Bola Tinubu and President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, have promised to give fresh direction to the justice sector in the country through a holistic overhaul. The probe instituted by the Kaduna State House of Assembly against former Governor Nasir el-Rufai has begun, as the lawmakers directed the Ministry of Finance to supply documents relating to financial transactions between May 29, 2015 and 2023.
