Jumper Ruth Usoro, sprinter Favour Ofili and eight other Nigerian athletes were on Wednesday disqualified from the track and field events of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, The PUNCH has learnt.

“Despite significant improvements in the domestic testing programmes in countries categorised as being the highest doping risk to the sport under the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules , 18 athletes from the final entries for the Tokyo Olympic Games are not eligible to compete because the minimum testing requirements under Rule 15 of the Anti-Doping Rules were not met by ‘Category A’ Federations.

Others are Samson Nathaniel, Grace Nwokocha, Divine Oduduru, Ifeanyi Ojeli, Blessing Okagbare and Imaobong Uko. Adeleye said the last time tests were conducted was during the All Comers Meet in Ijebu Ode in April 2019. “Among other things, the rule sets out minimum requirements for testing on the national teams of ‘Category A’ federations deemed to have the highest doping risk and considered as a threat to the overall integrity of the sport.

Please when will we begin to meet simple standard international requirements with these dullard leaders we have? In food exportation zero now it’s in sports too! See disgrace!🚶🏽‍♂️

DesmondElliot_ This is your fault.

Employ sport medic and dietitians to monitor your Olympic team during camping. Get modern test facilities. Everything here is 'management ' When will you do the right things and stop improvising? Yet You can never improvise your 30mil naira vehicle with a 5mil naira car.

Northern Nigerians don't participate or represent Nigeria in any international competition, but they are the one running football and other sports federation. USELESS people. Tufiakwa!!!

The Nigerian formal system has been bedeviled with incompetence from time immemorial. While some of her citizens are unperturbed others want to be delivered out of the swimming and sinking nation. May God deliver the willing hearted from the curse of Nigeria.

Given the high level of wickedness/gruesome killings by Nigerian Buhari 's herdership of her citizens, is Nigeria worth representing in any global event? Better to fly the flag of the least of nations than that of Nigeria. Nigeria hates Nigerians and vice versa. Shithole nation!

Why?

While will they not banned the country when the people in authority are busy chasing the shadow around rather than facing the needful.

Ban then in all sports relatrd activities, Nigeria is a terrorist country

So Nigeria cannot afford the doping test for her Tokyo Olympics team...!

And we have a minister of sports and associated officials. What kind of international disgrace is this?

Know this and have peace Buhari is bad luck

They should have banned the entire country from participating.

what could have happened

Hmm

I blame the Nigerian officials for this

smdh!

Naija!

Are we needed earlier?

Disgrace everywhere
