UNDP, Katsina to host security summit for Northwest

United Nations Development Fund , in collaboration with the Katsina State Government, will organise a Northwest peace and security summit in the state.

The state government has set up a 14-man planning committee consisting of state and UNDP officials, with the Secretary to the State Government , Abdullahi Faskari, as chairman. Consisting of Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states, the Northwest geo-political zone is bedevilled by security challenges brought about by activities of terrorists, kidnappers and rustlers.

Federal High Court in Abuja has refused to stop the impeachment move against the Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, by the State House of Assembly. The House of Representatives has directed the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control to enforce its resolution lifting the ban on sale of sachet alcoholic drinks.Members of Civil Society Organizations, CSOs, media practitioners and other critical stakeholders in Imo State have called for the implementation of the Freedom of Information Act in the state.
