The British Deputy High Commissioner in Lagos, Ben Llewellyn-Jones, has said 50 Nigerians were among the 1,500 awarded the Chevening scholarships from across the world in various UK universities for the 2021/2022 cohort. He stated this in Lagos during an event on the presentation on Chevening scholarships for persons with disabilities to commemorate the International Day of Sign Languages.
“We encourage you to apply if you meet our eligibility criteria and other requirements. Your gender, age , sexual orientation, religion, marriage or parenthood status, class or other attributes do not matter to us. What matters is your ability to submit a strong application that demonstrates you are capable of excelling on an intense Master’s course in the UK and that you have a clear vision for your future – and maybe even that of your sector or your country.
Llewellyn-Jones said the programme was also to raise awareness about the human rights for persons with disabilities and the great impacts they were making in their individual sectors.“I will like to encourage you all to put your best foot forward and apply regardless of any form of disability you might have. We are interested in your expertise and will support you if you qualify for the award,” the diplomat added.
