The accident which occurred at Abaomege in the Onicha Local Government Area of the state also left about four persons in critical condition.
It was gathered that the vehicle, a mass Transit bus, skidded off the Abaomege-Abakaliki Highway, somersaulted and stuck on a tree by the roadside. An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told our correspondent that officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps took the corpses to the Mater Misercodearie Hospital, Afikpo, in Ebonyi State.
Images of at least three mangled bodies in a damaged vehicle were displayed online. The state police command on Friday confirmed the incident. The spokesperson for the police in the state, Mrs Loveth Odah, said that the tyre of the bus busted before the incident took place. Odah stated, “Preliminary investigations indicated that the tyre of the bus bursted before the incident occurred. The deceased had been deposited in a mortuary while the injured were receiving treatment at the hospital.”All rights reserved.
