Police said gunmen from neighbouring Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State were behind the attack.The two border communities have been at war over a palm plantation on their border.
Police spokesperson Loveth Odah said the Commissioner of Police, Philip Maku, has sent a team of policemen and soldiers to the area to rescue the abducted persons.
