Troops of the Nigeria Army have reportedly rescued six female students of the Federal University of Gusau abducted by bandits in Zamfara.

In a statement, Suleiman Idris, senior special assistant on media to the governor of Zamfara, said the troops also killed many of the terrorists during a gun battle. “During the meeting, the security chiefs assured the deputy governor of their commitment to restoring peace in the state,” the statement reads.

“The deputy governor has reassured the people of Zamfara that security operatives are working tirelessly to address the current situation.”
