The LaLiga champions are also considering Augsburg’s Philipp Max and Real Betis’ Junior Firpo as alternatives. Alaba, 27, offered himself to Barca through his agents several weeks back and is the club’s first choice due to his versatility and experience at the top level. Barca believe he would bring competition for Alba, who is the only left-back in Ernesto Valverde’s squad.
