A tragic event unfolded in Imawa town, within Kura Local Government Area of Kano State, and along the Zaria-Kano highway as a moving truck lost control, resulting in the loss of at least 14 lives of worshippers.
The Kano Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, CC Ibrahim Abdullahi, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said several other persons also sustained injuries. According to him, “the tragic road traffic crash was reported at 1350hrs. According to preliminary reports, a truck bearing registration number Reg No. MKA 537 XN lost control and collided with pedestrians who had just concluded Friday prayers. This unfortunate collision resulted in the tragic loss of fourteen lives and left several others injured.
The Sector Commander said efforts were ongoing to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.
