With three days to the 31 January deadline to phase out the old naira notes nationwide, many Nigerians have lamented the pain of getting the new notes.

Following the Central Bank of Nigeria’s refusal to extend the deadline for the old naira notes, churches, mosques, businesses, traders and transporters said from Saturday, 28 January 2023 , they would only collect new notes, DAILY POST learnt on Friday.

DAILY POST gathered that banks in Delta, Edo, Imo, Enugu, Bayelsa other cities still dispense the old naira Naira notes. Here are their reactions: @Omo Logbon: “The time frame for the old Naira note is short. Even banks in Abeokuta need to load their ATM with the new Naira note, and they are not giving it out either. It’s so annoying when you are hungry; get to the ATM, dispense the old note, and take it to the market woman.”

@Victor Onwuka: “The deadline for the old Naira note should be extended. It causes stress on both bankers and their customers.”

...banks are behind the sabotage of this effort seriously!

Even if it is extended, banks in those states mentioned will not give people the new notes. They will be forced to do it once the old notes ceased to be legal tender.

That’s why we should operate cashless transactions, as done in developed economies.

If u no see new naira do transfer oo. U must not touch naira. Its a cashless policy era .

Apc has fall

Not only scares but also substandard

Someone should please tell Nigerian Banks to deposit 100 notes in their ATM machines where the redesigned 200, 500 and 1000 notes are in short supply. We'll make do with the 100 notes.

21st century what are you doing with note?

Some screaming headlines are in bad faith aimed at causing dissaffection. To me the expected benefits of the redesigning of the currencies is enough for any patriotic Nigerian to bear any hardship for now

New currency scarce pass petrol sef😑

Scammer kudahelp_ng joinkuda you’re scammers you scammed my hard money I suffered to get my money you scammed me bloody scammer you perish I will keep curs and pray for bad luck to always kudahelp_ng GazetteNGR GazetteNGR MobilePunch NTANewsNow

I don't longer have tears to waste for dis country,, let their Will be done 😂😂😂

Introducing a cashless police system is a welcome development for any developing country. If indeed, Government wants this policy to have a positive impact on our society and economy, they should remove 1000-note and 500-note.

Nobody is suffering.. they are the once that want to destroy this country.. go cashless. We go learn the hard way nothing good comes easy

Make transfers...and stop lamenting...let every body go digital...let everything be in check...

I know some people are out there including the banks trying to make sure this policy doesn't work. In as much as I don't trust the CBN governor, I believe his mistake could favour us in the end......lets be calm.

I hope this doesn't lead to a National chaos. it's a legal tender, it isn't a commodity that perish overtime. Whatever old currency N200, N500 & N1000 that goes into the bank shouldn't be recycled, in that way the new currency replaces it effortlessly. We are still where we are

God please have mercy on Nigeria. This wahala is too much, no fuel no light no money

We'll suffer now and enjoy latter. A cashless economy is achievable. The new currencies will be seen, once the old ones disappear. God bless Nigeria and Nigerians CBN,well done oo

This should provoke you to vote out completely APC gvt.
