Thugs suspected to be supporters of a prominent politician in Akwa Ibom State have attached the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon Aniekan Bassey, while on a consultation visit to Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of the state.
Condemning the attack at a joint media briefing on Sunday, two groups under the auspices of the Mandate Eyes and Akwa Ibom Integrity Alliance described it as an insult to the office of the speaker of the state. “We are indeed saddened that in the 21st century, a bunch of sane beings could constitute themselves into nuisance and go around harassing and assaulting innocent persons who do not align with their political views.
This is a rubber-stamped Speaker, who does not seem to have a mind of his own. What do you expect? He has to support his pay master, if not he will loose his seat at the House.
