I was in the race because I felt I could do a lot of things better for Ekiti people. Even, let us look at the unfair way people of Ekiti South Senatorial District here have been cheated out of being the governor of Ekiti State. The people of Ikere Ekiti, my hometown, in particular, put so much pressure on me, saying it was our turn to do it. They impressed on me that it was our turn to do it.
If I had known, I would have laughed it off, but I couldn’t because I thought they were so serious. It was so intense that if I didn’t do it, they would have said that I failed them. I am glad I did. I have no regrets but at least nobody can come to me now and say it is the turn of Ikere again. That is the reality. They came here, we started that journey.
What I found out, however, was that there was so much timidity, they probably didn’t recognise themselves as Southern Ekiti. There is no evidence that there is a vision connecting Ilawe to Igbara Odo to Ikere to Ise to Emure to Omuo, no sense of connection and they are so disillusioned and the politicians and leaders are not interested or they are thankful for any token that is given to them as individuals.I ran and I have no regrets but I am not going to do it again.
Certainly not poverty of the pocket but poverty of the mind.
Is the story any different from the other parts Nigeria?
They deserve the leader they vote.
This lame gospel & perpetual narrative that ekiti is a civil service state is pure laziness & lack of innovation on the side of the governor, why are you a governor if you can't industrial your state & create means of wealth for your people?
