Telecommunication companies have been asked to shut down their services in selected areas of Sokoto to help aid the fight against banditry.

He added that the state was collaborating with the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy to shut down communication services in the affected LGAs. In a message to our correspondent, Bello listed the areas affected by the Executive Order to include Gada, Goronyo, Gudu, Ilela, Isa, Kebbe and Sabon Birni.In addition to these local government areas, Dange Shuni local government area will also be affected by the latest communications blockade, bringing the number of LGAs affected to 14.A telecom engineer in Sokoto confirmed that telecom services in the affected areas would be shut down on Wednesday morning.
