It is still unclear what the loss and casualties are as a fire outbreak on Sunday morning gutted a building at the Balogun Market located on the Lagos Island area of Lagos. This is the fifth time the market has gone up in flames. A similar incident occurred at the market sometime in November 2019, 2020, 2021 and earlier this year. And on each case, several goods worth millions of naira were destroyed. SaharaReporters learnt that some of the shop owners affected by the incident openly wept when they got to the scene.

But operatives of the Lagos State Emergency Agency , Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, as well as other responders, were deployed to the market to put out the fire. The Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, was quoted as saying that rescue operations were ongoing at the scene as of 1 pm when firefighters and other first responders were battling to put out the fire.

“The agency responded to distress calls concerning the above location and upon arrival at the scene, a shop on the top floor of a four-storey building was found to be gutted by fire.“Fortunately there was no casualty involved in the incident. The agency’s responders alongside the Federal Fire service, Lagos State Fire service and UBA fire services are joint responders working together to put out the fire and prevent its spread to nearby buildings. Operation ongoing,” Oke-Osanyitolu said.

I am very sorry for this country with these kinds of comments and sentiment. Tell me, is it only igbos's shops that got burnt?

Animal kingdom

The leaked voice between Shettima and his friend. ▪︎Destroy ▪︎Igbo businesses ▪︎In ▪︎Lagos

Umu Igbo mepe Anya😢

I just wish we can read through the news to understand the jist, it a shopthat got burnt and not the whole market, wish we can just stop this suspicious allegations of people burning shops. Shops no dey burn for Onitsha too?

Now, tell me what can save the Biafrans in Nigeria, other than the Referendum. BiafraReferendumNow FreeMaziNnamdiKanuNow

Calls for investigation!

The people who cost the fire 🔥 issue are the ghost & does fools thinking one Nigeria 🇳🇬are mad people beside have u hear that fulani or hawusa people business is being catch fire 🔥in lagos ?the Igbos should know that the want to bring them down by all means

The owners of lagos has come again igbos in lagos becareful they will be more of this type of attack in others Market in lagos they have started their madness in igbo Markets in lagos

APC trademark, exactly what APC did in the last governorship election in Edo

Igbo people should go home nd rebuild their market there the yoruba man doesnt like an igbo man, the hausa man doesnt like you as in igbo man, why not go home let them to you.

Sad

No lessons were learnt from the past failures. Very unfortunate.

APC vs LP.

That is clearly the handiwork of tinubu and his boys

Lagos state only best in collecting tax and money from traders and do not have good plan for Lagos markets like other developed cities of the world.

DON'T WORRY, GOD IS WATCHING. Evil can never prevail over good. The more they hurt you for nothing, the more you progress.

Kudos to Lagos agberos.

Igbo business every time. God when

Wike and the rest will contribute

Other people may also be affected, yes that's correct; it is clear case of 'achieving a greater good by doing a little wrong' sacrifice them for the greater good, such is an attribute of evil mind but good will always triumph overevil. The victim of the fire is d instigator always

This always happens near December

Hate breeds hate, those in the past from this axis who pointed their fingers and vented venomous spleen against the Igbo ended up not attaining their ill motivated so called life ambition; go and verify. The irrepressible will of the Igbo to survive fights for itself till date

We know who the targets are. We know whose signature action it is. If he thinks he will surpass the author and finisher of the obnoxious 1970 £20 largesse, he should better think twice. All past attempts at economic strangulation of the targets failed, so also will the present

Does are the ones that refuse to attend Tinubu rally. APC burnt there market.

It is seriously a deliberate action, we should just stop leaving n denial, enough of fooling and pretending, these can only make things worse for them people had make up their mind already

The frequency in occurrences of this type of fire incendene in the market is very alarming.Let the Lagos State government come to their aid.

God will always increase the people you thought you are punishing with abundant wealth and health, while he impoverish you due to your wickedness against them. Wait for it

Handy work of some person's yes handy work of some person's ...

UmeobiSopuluchi Igbos should come back home Una no hear word

Cash out Awon iyami 🏄🏄

That is what they got for supporting that old papa the other day, Ndi compromise am not sorry for you all there ndi ara

The market is old fashioned and a walking fire hazard. It will catch fire every year! It’s not a curse. Take a leaf from Oyo the way Akesan market fire aftermath was handled! Build proper, well ventilated structures with a mobile fire station and regular fire drills.

MC Oluomo boys burns Igbo trader's shops Tinubu steps in to compensate To make the Igbos vote for him

MC Oluomo and his doings

Targeted at destroying the business of my IGBOS brothers !!

Tinubu wants u people to go home, he doesn't want to lose Lagos to Obi, but u guys doesn't want. Expect more from Tinubu guys.

We sympathise with everyone affected and pray to God almighty for cover up. Meanwhile, Ojuyobo shouldn't only sympathise but fix them up all financially with the nation's wealth at his disposal 🏃🏃🏃😁

hope not because of peter obi false presidency ambition ...igbos in lagos should stay away from politics for their own safety

No na😟

Please tell all Obidient to start unfollowing anyone that's against their candidate because commenting on their tweets daily is totally meaningless.Visiting their account makes them feel like their tweets counts when it really don't have any weight and base.

Insure your shops, insure your goods

APC thugs are at it again

Tinubu will donate money this time… politics 101

Most of markets burning in lagos are sabotage work

A very strong message, 'don't mess with the landlords' Why did it Arithmetically coincide with the rally? If you know the pattern of Nigeria's office and market inferno, then tou will get the gist.

This looks suspicious

Ask the agberos who walked the streets of Lagos today. Maybe some traders didn't come out for the rally

Again!

Last ! Last!!. NIGERIA WILL DISINTEGRATE.💯

Ogbaghi aka

There handwork

Biafra is the ONLY hope for Biafrans.

We were expecting something like this, this is to send the south east people out of Lagos but they will stay and vote be leaving.

Tinubu agent destroying Igbos business No election in biafra land

Igbos think home, the signal is very clear. Anywhere you build market your customer must find you come there. Learn from Nnewi people.
