The defendants, Emmanuel James, 20, and Wisdom Richard, 26, were arrested by men of the state police command for allegedly killing one Bolakale Abdullahi, an attendant at the Farbas filling station, Alagbaka, Akure on June 23, 2020.The suspects were arraigned on four counts of felony, armed robbery, murder, and unlawful possession of firearms.
The police prosecutor, Mr Onheninhen Augustine, told the court that the accused were notorious and trained armed robbers, adding that the court should remand them pending advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.In her ruling the chief magistrate, Mrs O. R. Yakubu ordered the accused to be remanded in the custody of the Anti-Cultism Unit of the state police command.
She added that the case file should be transferred to the DPP’s office for legal advice and the matter was adjourned till November for the continuation of trial.
