The Supreme Court on Thursday sacked David Lyon of the All Progressive Congress as governor-elect of Bayelsa State, barely 24 hours to his inauguration.
A five-member panel of the apex court led by Justice Mary Odili nullified the election of Mr Lyon on the grounds that his deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo, presented false information to the Independent National Electoral Commission in aid of his qualification for the November 16 governorship election in State.
The apex court in the judgment delivered by Justice Ejembi Eko consequently ordered INEC to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Messrs Lyon and Degi-Eremienyo. Justice Eko also ordered that INEC immediately declare the party with the highest number of lawful votes and geographical spread. With the judgment of the apex court on Thursday, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Diri Duoye, could be inaugurated on Friday as governor of Bayelsa State
I read the ruling by the SupremeCourtNg, why is Buhari still President?
Buhari and APC minions will sure have seizures
I'm not surprised. Kudos to Nigerian judiciary even though some them do mess up.
I think Apc think say they sabi? Good judgment. Lol
Interesting times.
Supreme Court breaking hearts😂😂
Let me use the PDP's language, GOOD FOR OUR DEMOCRACY!!
Sandaribasatayaba, wao, this is Nigeria, welcome to Nigeria guys... Lemme guess .... ememem ....yes, apc ll apply for a review of judgment
Is PDP celebrating or protesting against the judgement & the judiciary?
Interestingly, some Bayelsans will jubilate because David Lyon speaks not so good English. Let's see what the PDP guy has to offer. If he has no vision, then he will be like Dickson who had nothing to offer in the first instance.
Beautiful judgment!
What's happening, something isn't right again!!!!
