The 53-year-old's appointment was confirmed by the NFF on Monday. Finidi , who expressed his delight with the appointment, promised to give his best to make his stint successful.

I still have to meet with the NFF and tidy up things before I have a formal media chat,” Finidi was quoted by Complete sports.com. The former winger is expected to sign a two-year contract with the NFF. His immediate task is to ensure the Super Eagles qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The former African champions are yet to record a win in the qualifiers after playing two consecutive draws against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
