THE meeting of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Niger State Chapter and the state government over the payment of workers’ November salaries ended without a resolution on Thursday.

The state government had already taken a decision to slash the salaries of the workers in the state, citing economic recession. But the NLC is insisting on 100 per cent payment of salaries.

Our correspondent learnt that labour argued that with the federal allocation of N4.2bn received, paying workers’ salaries of N2.6bn should not be difficult for the government.Garba said labour had given the government a three-point demand which should be met, else workers would go on strike. The Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Matane, lamented that labour did not give room for an offer of percentage.

NLC needs to be very careful before FG labels them a terrorist group!

'This is Nigeria'

NLC can go ahead and strike for all i care, it’s non of my business. I’ll still go about my work like nothing is happening. It’s obvious we the citizens are on our own. As far as I’m concerned, no political party have any right to call for a strike. To me, NLC is dead.
