Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has condemned state governments that impose illegal fees, taxes and levies on licensed mining companies, warning that such actions serve as disincentive to prospective investors in the sector and jeopardise the Federal Government’s efforts to deepen the mining industry.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Vice-President on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, disclosed this in a statement titled: ‘Govts, Communities Collaboration will be a Game-changer for Nigeria’s Mining Sector’.

Mining abi all businesses in the economy

Then allow the states to control the resources in their domain. You sit in Abuja, collect licenses and others from investors then send them to the states, what do you expect the owners of the resources to do? Wait for Abuja to give them handouts? Its supposed to be the other way

Honestly, most of the State's Chief Executives lack progressive ideas. The Vice President has said it all

The concerned states should take note and make necessary adjustments! We can’t keep losing investment opportunities.

I think the states government need to follow this suits. Thank you Mr VP

Illegal taxes will discourage development in the country. We are blessed with resources, and we need to look for ways to use it to develop the country
