Sowore’s rearrest, DSS invasion of court, reasons I shunned Soyinka’s award on justice reform – Osinbajo

Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has given two reasons why he was absent at the Prof. Wole Soyinka’s 2019 anti-corruption defender award.Osinbajo, who was absent at the event, was recognized and awarded the Integrity Specialty of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism’s Anti-corruption Defender.

Given his reasons for being absent in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Monday by his Spokesman, Laolu Akande, Osinbajo said, “I am extremely grateful for the recognition and award of the “Integrity Specialty of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism’s Anti-corruption Defender Award of 2019” to me.

“However, two reasons explain my absence. First is that I am currently in Abu Dhabi for an international meeting under the auspices of the government of the UAE where I am the keynote speaker.

Dear sir, you did not shun it you were disqualified

He did not shun the award. He shares the same concern as the organizers. He is very sensitive to his environment. That's the more reason we should respect him. They could have given him the award and nothing will happen, but he chose to be sensitive enough to what's going on

Daily post will always twist the headline to suite them. The VP very sensitive with the present time and happenings around that's why he took such decision, he didn't 'shun' the Soyinka's award.

That is very sensitive of VP Yemi Osinbajo, I'm proud of you mentor. I know what you would have done, but a lot of people are acting like they don't even know you are just a VP with limited power because you have acted so much than the usual VP we use to know
