Governor Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State has directed the state police command to ensure the prosecution of eight passengers who defied the government closure of all international border and inter-sta

te boundaries to curtail the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

The governor had apprehended a bus conveying the passengers out of the state and handed over the travellers to the police for prosecution. The Commissioner of Police said, “All the passengers are being interrogated to know their culpability. They will be charged to court as directed by the governor.”
