Oyo State Government said it is already looking forward to working in collaboration with the National Social Safety Nets Coordinating Office of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development to ensure that the state benefits from grants set aside to continue to populate the register of poor and vulnerable in the state.
The programme was organized by the State Coordinating unit YESSO in collaboration with the state Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning. “It was in recognition of this and the promise of the Governor that this administration will not only confront poverty but will usher in an era of progress and prosperity in the state that required counterpart fund was released to the Public Workfare Implementation Unit of YESSO at the inception of the administration.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mr. Adeniyi Farinto said although the World Bank project will end by September, the state is very much interested in the project, adding that the evaluation exercise is to review the impact and identify challenges by the relevant stakeholders.
“The point is, a state can carry out CBT test to generate data but if that data gets to the National office, a lot of intrigues is involved and that is what has been affecting the data generated from Oyo state, but we still carry out more CBT test so that we can continue to populate our register, so that we can bring in more poor people and vulnerable into the safety net of that programme.”
