Shodipe confirmed this when he told reporters during his second parade that he worked as a porter to survive during the brief time he escaped from custody. “I returned home late that night to meet all the families in my ‘face-me-I-face-you’ house sleeping outside in the open with their children. When I asked why, they said they were afraid of the killer; that they could not afford to let him corner them in their rooms. If he could kill in broad daylight, they would not take any risk at night. The fear was so palpable, especially as no one knew who would be next.
