The proposed legislation — a consolidation of three bills — was passed by the upper legislative chamber on Tuesday after Ibrahim Gobir, chairman of the committee on national security and intelligence, presented a report.President Muhammadu Buhari

The Sokoto senator said the establishment of the commission would support efforts to address the country’s rising insecurity.After the presentation of the report, the senate went into a meeting of the “committee of the whole” to consider clauses of the bill., President Muhammadu Buhari approved the establishment of a national centre for the control of small arms and light weapons .

What will their responsibilities?

Which arms do we have that we are controlling? Even bandits parade more sophisicated weaponry. It is so embarrassing. Where are the trillions budgeted for defence?

Senate should be passing bill on impeachment of Buhari.

This agency is not necessary, arms control is police job, period.

They have passed so many bills without backing up with actions. This bill supposed to even be an executive order. Just imagine what the country has automatically turned into

NGRSenate it's becoming ridiculous. All you guys do is establish one bureaucracy or another. No creative thinking at all. When there is concerns for too large a government, you're adding more. Where will the funding come for this new bill

Another money in the drainage commission! The police and the army can set up a unit to do the job of this so called commission.
