The governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, has requested a battalion from the Nigerian Army to secure ungoverned spaces in the state.

He made the appeal during a visit to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, at the Army Headquarters in Abuja.LEADERSHIP reports that a battalion is estimated at 300 to 1,000 soldiers.

The governor while speaking during the visit said, “We are in critical need of security in the state. The COAS is knowledgeable about our terrain and the problems we are facing. We have border with six states, Adamawa, Benue, Nasarawa, Gombe, Plateau, and Bauchi. Our challenge is very high. We cannot solve it without your support.“We intend to dominate the vast ungoverned spaces in our state to ensure the safety and well-being of our citizens.

He, however, noted that a Battalion already existed in the North-East part of the country in Borno State, promising the prompt commencement of a unit in Taraba State.
