SDP scores 2019 polls low, calls for comprehensive electoral reforms vanguardngr.com vanguardnews

The Abia State chairman of the party, Hon. Chidi Nwosu who presented the party’s report on the 2019 general election yesterday, said that the party arrived at the conclusion “after a comprehensive evaluation of reports collated from our party candidates, acting local government chairmen, ward chairmen and party agents”.

Nwosu said the governorship and state assembly polls were a cocktail of malpractices in spite of the fact that polls began early unlike in the previous presidential election of February 23. He said that 2019 elections were characterized by “ballot box snatching, thugs harassing voters, manipulation of election results figures at ward and local government collation centres”, adding that “election officials at ward and local government headquaters compromised their positions by entering figures that never emanated from unit results form on ward and local government results EC 8B and EC 8C, respectively.

“At local government and state constituency collation centres, collation officers entered arbitrary figures. In fact, they allocated figures to parties of their interest”, Nwosu alleged.
