Ahead of the reopening of schools today , the Delta State Government has given an assurance on the safety of students and teachers across the 25 local government areas of the state.

The state Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Patrick Ukah, who gave the assurance on Monday, noted that the state government had taken practical steps to guarantee the safety of students, teachers and other members of staff of the various schools in the state.

He noted that the steps included the distribution of infrared body thermometers, face masks, hand sanitizers, towels, gallons of liquid soap, water tanks and water buckets, among other items, to the schools. Ukah stated, “The schools across the 25 council areas have been fumigated and we will ensure the safety of schoolchildren from contracting the ravaging COVID-19; a total of 5,697 teachers from both the public and private schools across the 25 local government areas of Delta State have been trained in COVID-19 protocols.

“So, the training was aimed at ensuring that those teachers would in turn train others in their various schools. “Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is irrevocably committed to safeguarding the health of residents, especially teachers and schoolchildren in the state at all times.”All rights reserved.
