An unknown fraudster is using a fake email account bearing the name of Simon Kolawole, the founder of TheCable, to request money from individuals

A suspected fraudster has created an email account bearing the name of Simon Kolawole, the CEO of TheCable, with the aim of fleecing unsuspecting individuals.— the perpetrator has been writing persons close to Kolawole and requesting financial assistance from them.

TheCable founder has no connection with the Hotmail account and does not operate an account with the email service provider. In the message being distributed, the suspected fraudster, who disguised as Kolawole, demanded the sum of N500,000 to complete a payment while giving assurances of a refund.“Do you have up to N500,000 in your mobile banking? I will need you to send this amount to complete a payment for me,” the message reads.“Please advise, and I will forward the beneficiary bank details to you within the hour.”The creation of phoney email accounts is one of the tactics deployed by fraudsters to defraud people.
