The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said the state government is trying to get the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 to allow flights from Lagos to Abuja to operate, following the increasing impact of the closure of the airports on the state’s economy.

The Federal Government on March 23 shut all international airports in the country before it later extended the closure to all airports in the country, banning all local and international flights. The governor said, “In terms of direct economy, I know that the entertainment industry has been affected badly. I know the hospitality industry has been affected greatly, especially as people could not go out. It affected those sectors badly. Transportation business and the aviation sector have been affected significantly and these are large employers of labour.

A good development

Corona mood right now!

Will be glad if this happens... At least people can go back to work.

How can you do something 'very quickly' but 'in a gradual manner'? I'm asking for a friend, please.

And interstate too. Coronavirus ko Covid19 ni. Malaria drugs dey cure am, agbo sef na legit. Am tired please

Please let them resume fast, can't wait for that to happen.... A little bit relieved

Yahoo ni gbogbo wa😂

When it comes to money that Will enter their own pockets they will rush and open it so the corona virus has left abi this government are just criminals but it’s well sha God knows best

Why is sanwo olu so worried about opening the airport so that his child can fly aboard to study abi

There is no corona virus 🦠 simple

Main priority nawa o

😂

That will not happen!

Is it only to facilitate the governor'seasy movement to Abuja or the the general public too?

🤔 🤔 🤔

Shea CORONAVIRUS don go holiday Or is CORONAVIRUS aware of this arrangement

Is he mad?

What problem will that solve to require such priority?

Better, we can't wait

'Sanwo Olu misses flying from Lagos to Abuja again' there I fixed it for you

jidesanwoolu and drobafemihamzat . Please do not destroy the good work you guys are doing. Don't open local flight from Lagos to Abuja. You know what's going on in Kano. Kano to Abuja is not far . If you get what I mean.

Despite daily increase in d number of people with Covid-19 pandemic in Lagos ? Hope d governor is not dreaming.

Check Brazil. Check UK. Check France. Check Italy and check the almighty USA. Sounds as if our own COVID-19 is home grown.

Hnmmmm

He needs to shore up revenue, he can't be losing the fight against Corona virus and also be losing out on revenue projections...sense will not kee Pontus.

It's long over due. We've lived long enough with the virus to now understand how to cope with it. The earlier we start visible reopening of our economy, the better for us. Make hunger no kill person😒

It seems he is tired of Baba Ijebu numbers coming from NCDC. Just visit any state or federal hospital, you would be declared COVID 19 patient. Be it bone dislocation. MADNESS EVERYWHERE!

jidesanwoolu So na only Abuja and Lagos people good to travel by air, ba?

Okay

Abuja planning to make a comeback on the leaderboard

It makes no sense to keep worship centres close while every other commercial activity is open. Who can better manage crowd, the church or market?

Road transport first because that will favour the masses the most.

Oga won take pictures to Abuja.

Really, what of teachers in private schools.

Good news

Sir_uB9ce Finally I can go to Abuja.

Our so called leaders are not telling us something about this Corona virus. Because if they are I don't think they will be rushing to do what they're doing

If jidesanwoolu wants to open up everything in Lagos then fine but not opening one section and leaving others closed up. Moreover I live around Ikeja and I noticed flight never stopped flying even during the lockdown

Besides we are in a county that import almost everything The local rice ure eating are u satisfied with eating stone almost every time, but if you have the money you will buy foreign rice Is just like that If they don't open, average Nigerians will suffer

Guess what they are not actually doing this for themselves alone,if the lock down continue the economy will crash and they won't really suffer,na we go suffer am,lots of people will be sent home from work including federal and state workers

International flights too should resume! Uk has opened her International airports, if you enter their country, you must quarantine for 14 days, as non-citizens you’d pay your cost of quarantine by yourself

E get transaction wey dem wan do ni...dem go soon lock am back

Yesterday the same governor told us he needs new isolation centers and today want to open airports, may God judge you people

NaijaFlyingDr They have never had the minds of theirs. Always direct copy and paste.

What will please people? Lockdown they say Covid Na scam, open economy they say he is not serious! Which way?

The government is like, 'Since you guys don't there's a virus, we would like to support your belief'

Nice move

What about schools? Just because their kids aren't schooling in Nigeria, they don't care.

🥺🥺🥺🥺

Seeking resumption of flights but not schools; the people working at D airports hav no children at home dat they can infect? Children are already going to extramural lessons & they never stopped playing in the streets. It's high time you stopped this stupid game. Naija_Scamdemic

He has been pressured by the powers.

So that he can easily fly to Abuja.. Weldone sir

Long overdue

I don't know why governors want local airports to be reopened. They should ride on the roads they've constructed, or they are scared of kidnappers?

This Gov needs to domesticate his solution mechanics. He's wrongly applying developed countries style in managing a very unique Lagos society. He needs to be more pragmatic, less idealistic. He's not yet convinced me about his abilities. I'm being very sincere

Lagos is a big loser of this COVID 19 issue.

There is something of wonders.. I heard religious gathering are dated to open by June 8, now sanwoolu seeks flights ... And all this is happening when Nigeria is having the highest cases..

WHY SHOULD IT BE OPEN

You can do this but no plan yet to open churches

Sensible move

Easing air traffic for the rich but no movement for the poor on road

Haaaaaaa while Ogun state governor is still doing on and off not knowing the way forward going front and back like primary school student ... Covid 19 don't come out on Monday Wednesday and Friday Funny

No please kindly not resume the flights please

jidesanwoolu drobafemihamzat don't only seek resumption of flight but removal of curfew in Lagos State as it is seriously causing heavy traffic on the road & frustrating commuters especially workers that are using BRT buses to Island.

I don't understand if the governor always copy US government hmmm I observed something and that's why I'm saying this

Please do I need to go back to my country

Will be only Lagos and Abuja

So cash out go increase

They don dey tire...lol

Because of economy. People sef. Moreover, opening schools is more important.
