Mr Sanusi gave this advice while speaking at the opening of the 108th edition of Islamic Vacation Course , organised by the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria Zone B, held at IVC Permanent Camp, along Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ogun State.Mr Sanusi, while speaking on the array of social problems bedeviling Nigeria, insisted that the ‘almajri’ challenge in Northern Nigeria is not a religious concern, but a social issue that needs urgent attention.
“If we continue this way, about 40 per cent extremely poor people will be in Nigeria. Poverty in the South West is 20 per cent, in the North, it is 80 per cent, Lagos is 8 per cent and Zamfara, it is 91 per cent. “This is my own advice that we must look at. These are not religious issues, they are social issues that need to be addressed”.
Absolutely, and education of the girl child must be an enshrined policy. It's collective abuse not to educate every child, especially the almajiris.
I think people should be advocated on the sweetness of knowledge, power of knowing right and wrong. This will give them the conscience of knowing if having too much children is err or not.

Forcing parents to take full responsibility of feeding, clothing, schooling &accommodation of their children & reforming almajiri schools by making living/studying conditions better by taxing their parents & engaging clerics will be accepted more easily than family planning.

oluwaloninyo The people who practice it, do they know what family planning is ? With the high illiteracy rate in the north, it's highly unlikely such a message will reach the targeted audience, or if the targeted audience is able to properly translate/process such an advise.
