To prepare journalists for emergencies, the International Committee on Red Cross , will train members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Rivers State on First Aid.

He lauded Red Cross for the workshop saying that journalists in the state are now better informed on the activities of the humanitarian organization. Egede said: “We visit detention facilities often to check the condition of the detainees. As far as a detainee has not been sentenced to death, he has a right to life.He insisted that with a new law signed into law by the President, there is no need to get Police Report before treating victims of gunshot injuries.
