The Rivers State House of Assembly on Monday approved Governor Nyesom Wike’s N18bn loan request meant for developmental projects in the state.

The approval was granted after the Speaker of the house, Ikunyi Ibani, read the governor’s request during plenary.

Wike, in the letter, said the loan would be serviced through internally generated revenue and would be fully repaid before the end of his tenure. The governor said the loan would be used to accelerate development in the state, including the construction of the proposed fourth flyover at GRA junction in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, the dualisation of the mummy-B Road to Stadium Road and the payment of ancillary facilities.

It was gathered that 25 lawmakers present at the sitting, voted in favour of the approval after the governor’s request was debated. All rights reserved.
