“There is no need for this test.” Nigeria

Nigeria’s House of Representatives on Wednesday during its plenary resolved to urge higher institutions in Nigeria to stop the post UTME/JAMB screening.

The post UTME, always paid for, has been made compulsory by various tertiary institutions for candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions. The post UTME has since attracted a lot of criticisms. Critics say the exams are an unnecessary and unjust way to make money off the students. Speaking on the motion, Ahmed Lawan, who was then the Senate Leader, said there was no need for post-UTME tests after the candidates have passed the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board.

The test wasn’t there before. Shouldn’t they find and understand the reason for it’s introduction before rushing to wipe it? There was a time admissions in public universities became cash and carry before JAMB slightly sanitized the system. And now they want us back. Dearis God o

Pls dey should

I think ASSU said they autonomous? They backed thier claim with law in the constitution. Thus NASS can therefore not interfere in their activities...

I wish they will remove acceptance fee too

Reps speak on scraping of post UTME/JAMB - Daily Post NigeriaThe House of Representatives was on Wednesday divided over the motion to stop the conduct of examinations of post Unified Tertiary Matriculation The UTME itself has outlived it's usefulness. Without UTME can there be anything called post-UTME? Scrap that thing called UTME and post-UTME will perish with it. It'll be a good riddance of bad nonsense! I have seen no important for writing Post UTME, a person will write JAMB and got all the necessary piot, and he/she wouldn't get an Admission until he/she write what is called POST UTME, what does that means? It has to be scraped out, let just be only JAMB and Interview or scrnng
