Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal Adjourns Sitting Till May 22.

The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal has adjourned sitting till May 22, 2019, to hear an application to be filed by the Peoples Democratic Party and its Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The tribunal which is chaired by the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, is hearing the petition of the Peoples Democratic Party , its Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar and three other petitions filed by other political parties and their candidates. During sitting on Wednesday, the PDP through its lawyer Mr Levy Uroukwu asked for a 10 minutes chambers hearing alongside the lead counsels to the party in the suit, but after a 35 minutes stand down, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa asked Mr Uroukwu to talk about the issues he raised in the chambers in an open court because it is already in the public domain.

But Counsel to President Buhari, Mr Wole Olanipekun, said that if they were to go into the issues the petitioners have to come by way of a formal application and then they will be given time to respond but if they want to canvass their issues orally, he is equally ready to respond orally. Mr Levi Uroukwu promised the court that he will file a formal motion on Thursday and then it will be argued on Tuesday.Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa has ruled that the application which is yet to be filed will be heard on Tuesday, May 22, 2019.
