The Federal Government yesterday began the process of building a National Social Register to generate a comprehensive and reliable database of poor and vulnerable households across the federation.
Special Adviser to the President on Social Investment, Mrs. Maryam Uwais, said the register, which would be split into age, gender, disability, educational qualifications among others for proper planning of social intervention programmes at the national, state and local council levels, would also be available for third party who intends to use the information for research and philanthropic activities.
She spoke while delivering the keynote address at the 14th Anti-corruption Situation Room Forum organised by the Human Environment Development Agenda in Maiduguri, Borno State. Uwais also hinted of efforts to develop a Consolidated Beneficiary Register comprising data collated from all the four components of the Social Intervention Programme of the current administration.
