The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has returned the money extorted from an Abuja-based businessman, Damilola Adenuga, by some cops attached to the Kubwa Police Station.

had reported that the cops assaulted and extorted Adenuga on August 7, 2020, while on his way to a pharmacy around 7pm.

The victim told our correspondent that the cops labelled him an Internet fraudster and threatened to kill him if he did not part with money.However, Adenuga, who spoke to our correspondent on Tuesday, said the cops involved had been arrested and the money extorted had been returned to him. “The Criminal Investigation Department took our statements and asked me to go home; the following day, I was asked to write an additional statement and a formal letter, which I did. I kept calling the officer in charge of the case to remind her about the money and she assured me that it would be returned. On Tuesday, August 18, 2020, I received the N100,000 in cash from the IPO.”
