The police in Bayelsa State on Monday arrested a suspected armed robber identified as Merit Salvation.

A statement in Yenagoa by a spokesman for the state police command, SP Asinim Butswat, said a locally-made pistol and ammunition were recovered from the 23-year-old. Butswat said the suspect was nabbed by operatives of the Azikoro division with support from youths and vigilantes of Akaba community in the Yenagoa Local Government Area.

He said, “Operatives of the Azikoro division in collaboration with youth leaders and vigilantes of Akaba community have arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered a locally-made pistol and three .99 ammunition. “On August 23, 2021, while on a patrol at Akaba community around 2.30am, police operatives arrested the suspect, Merit Salvation, 23.
