Police kill suspected kidnapper, rescue victims, recover guns in Delta

The police in Abraka Division, Ethiope-East Local Government Area of Delta State, led by SP Fabian Ayameh, in collaboration with the Abraka vigilante and hunters group, have killed a suspected kidnapper in Okuno, Orogun community in Ughelli North Local Government Area. Other members of the criminal gang, however, escaped from the crime scene.

The police also rescued two kidnap victims and reunited them with their families. It was gathered that the suspect sustained serious gunshot injuries during an exchange of gunfire between him and members of his criminal gang. He died in a hospital where he was rushed for medical treatment, DAILY POST can report. The police also recovered from the suspect at the crime scene one AK-47 rifle and 11 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

He said, 'On 26/4/2024, at about 09:00 hours, the command received an intelligence report that some suspected kidnappers were hibernating in Okuno, Orogun, where they were hiding alongside some kidnapped victims. The Commissioner of Police Delta State, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, directed the DPO Abraka Division SP Fabian Ayameh to lead police operatives to their hideout.
