Police have fired teargas canisters on June 12 protesters in Lagos amidst tension in the state as the nation marks Democracy Day.

Police had earlier in the morning taken over the protest venue at Gani Fawehinmi Park in a bid to prevent people from gathering.But protesters defied police presence attempting to carry out the protest at the popular Freedom Park Ojota.
