The Police have arrested a – 72 – year old man, Ishola Tijani, for defiling a seven – year old girl in Iperu area of Ogun State.
Ishola was arrested on September 22 following a report by the mother of the victim, who reported at the Iperu Police station that she returned home and found her daughter feeling uncomfortable. The woman told the Police that upon an enquiry from the girl, she explained to her that the sexagenarian lured her into his room and raped her afterwards.The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who disclosed this on Saturday said the Divisional Police Officer in Iperu detailed detectives to the scene and arrested the old man.
Abimbola, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said further that the was taken to a hospital and it was confirmed that the girl has been defiled. Also, the suspect in his statement, admitted that he committed the alleged offence while the commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun has given directive for the transfer of the suspect to the Anti – human Trafficking and Child Labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
