The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of five suspects linked to the killings in Diobu and the D-line axis of Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Grace Iringe-Koko, in a statement said, “The arrest of the suspects who allegedly killed two people in Diobu and one in D-line is a reaffirmation that Rivers State is peaceful”. SP Iringe-Koko, who noted that an investigation is ongoing, particularly to arrest other fleeing members of the gang, said the Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Emeka, has assured that “the police will continue to ensure adequate security for the state.

reports that a man identified as John Okon was shot dead by suspected assassins within Mile 1 Diobu Port Harcourt on Tuesday. Okon, who hailed from Akwa-Ibom State, was a motor mechanic residing around Rumuolumeni community. He was reportedly shot inside his vehicle. Similarly, a man yet to be identified was also shot and killed, and his car was snatched from him around the D-line axis of Port Harcourt. The victim was rushed to the military hospital by passersby but was confirmed dead.

gathered that the incident occurred days after one Kalada Briggs was also shot by a gang of car snatchers operating within the D-line axis. Briggs, however, survived the gunshot injury as he was rushed to the hospital. This has raised concern that there is a car theft syndicate in the state that specialises in killing and making away with their victim's cars.
