The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has kicked against alleged plans by the Jigawa State Government to impose caretaker committee chairmen across the 27 local government areas of the state.

PDP chairman in Jigawa State, Ali Idris Diginsa, kicked against the alleged plan while reacting to the State House of Assembly's recommendation for the postponement of local government election in the state to next year.

reported that the Jigawa State House of Assembly had constituted an ad hoc committee to scrutinise the state’s electoral and local government laws to give political parties notice period of 360 days to adequately prepare for elections. Diginsa warned against the attempt by the Jigawa State House Assembly to tamper with the provisions of Section 7 of the Construction of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 .
