Over 581,000 Nigerians diagnosed with tuberculosis between 2014 and 2018 have received treatment for the disease, the United States Agency for International Development has said.

USAID’s Nigeria Mission Director, Mr. Stephen Haykin, who disclosed this yesterday in Abuja at the close-out meeting of the agency’s Challenge TB project in Nigeria, added that treatment coverage for the ailment improved from 15 per cent in 2015 to 24 per cent in 2019. The TB project was a USAID global mechanism for control of the scourge in 22 countries, including Nigeria, and it was implemented by KNCV Foundation, Management Science for Health and the World Health Organisation in 14 states across the federation from 2015 to 2019.
