A petition started on the online petition-aggregator, Change.org, aimed at stopping demands for English proficiency tests from Nigerians, has garnered at least 26, 000 signatures. It particularly calls for an end to foreign institutions' demands for the International English Language Testing System from Nigerians whose language of instruction at various levels of education was primarily English.
It further argued that a test that costs more than three times the minimum wage and the result expires in two years, should not be required of Nigerians since the country is predominantly English speaking.

English is not our mother tongue and we can't be perfect with English even with the English proficiency test.
Most Nigerians don't know when to use 'am' or 'I'm', Your and you're, his and he's, but we want to be exempt from taking an English proficiency test? Oh ok.
Wow. Wow. I was going to lead this campaign!
My university here in Toronto don’t require IELTS from Nigerians, because our first language is English, but I hear some other universities request
Lol they know you speak and understand English fluently they just wanna make some money off you

spirituak An English speaking nation writing proof of English test 😩
A lot of Nigerian students and even people working can’t write a standard cover letter without grammical errors, let’s not even get into atrocious pronunciations with our varied accents.
Official language: English School language of instruction: English They make sure you pay tithe to the U.K through IELTS. Tuehh! France can't do that to Francophone African citizens.
I don't think it is actually necessary testing Nigerians on English language proficiency which is certainly the first and predominant language here.
Where's the petition please, let me sign it! That's the worst requirement ever! Are Britons required to pass Yoruba or Swahili proficiency test to do anything? Who subjects their own children to such idiotic education system anyways? Pull them out and homeschool them.
All this petition things no dey work.
Nigeria is an English speaking nation. The whites know this but they act bl!nd of deny us the advantage. Even our govt is not helping matters.

Ok, but hear me out. IELTS can only be stopped for academics (post graduate studies). But can't be stopped for immigration purpose - you must write it.😂
