Former Military Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, says his administration had planned to build five export-oriented refineries to prevent dependence on other countries for refined products. Gowon Refinery Nigeria

“The three refineries, Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna, were designed for internal consumption. We had planned that if our consumption grew more than the three could do, we would transfer one of the export-oriented refineries for home consumption,” he told participants at the second yearly international conference and exhibition of the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria in Lagos.

According to him, “the situation was just a logistics issue. The reserve they have is enough for 28 days. The one in Warri was also due to vessel logistics, as they have 15 vessels already. If you go around today, there is nothing as such. You will sometimes have occasional difficulties with logistics. What is important is taking immediate action and addressing the situation promptly. There is no basis for panic buying.

This followed unsucessful attempts by the Federal Government to close the infrastructure gap in the sector, especially for pipelines, refineries and storage facilities, among others. Kachikwu had said the Federal Government would cut the contracting cycle in the country’s oil and gas industry from over two years to six months.

Story for the gods

Mistake leader 🤣

i don't want to lose my moral sir, so am not saying nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Had”

This is story

Plan has failed, country has failed...

Things fall apart corruption hit the roof

For me there is no credit in this statement. Pa Gowon has never contributed any guided helpfulness to any government after his days in office as much as I know. He has rather been taking a lukewarm position in national affairs while bad governance thrives.

After his 9 year reign? Planning?

So why were they not built?

Excuse is a failure. What we young men are experiencing is a result of the foundation you laid.

Is this statement a staled or what is needed presently. It has become history and therefore we need to just drop this in the thrash. what you planned to do is just a thought and never done. So Gen Gowon didnt do what is expected at the expected time.

This man was taken out and replaced by the likes of OBJ and Nigeria cesspool full of corrupt individuals

Why are Nigerian recent & current leaders not thinking along that line? why're they so much interested in importation & subsidy payment if not corruption. Who owns the refineries they're importing from? MBuhari was voted in 2015 thinking by now all our refineries will be working

Failure is not an excuse. What we young men are experiencing is a result of the foundation you laid.

They took this man out on lies and later killed everyone he's associated with
