Oshiomhole: Governors contribute to election violence — AK-47 is not cheap | TheCable

October 5, 2022 10:20 AM

He said the security challenges in Nigeria are not novel and can only be tackled through the collaborative effort of the Independent National Electoral Commission , political leaders and security agencies. “Police sending two or ten men to a location doesn’t necessarily guarantee security. I’ve been a victim of election rigging which was why I launched ‘one man one vote’ because if it’s about survival of the fittest, people like me can’t get elected,” Oshiomhole said.“The ingredients for free and fair elections don’t just lie with INEC.

Oshiomhole added that governors contribute to violence recorded on election days, adding that the weapons used by disruptors cannot be easily obtained.“When I was a governor and I mean this, you can ask [former] President Goodluck Jonathan, I did say at a meeting at the villa that sometimes governors contribute to election violence because AK-47 is not as cheap as buying akara,” he said.

Will Peter Obi win or not? | TheCableI have read quite a lot of social media posts debating the possibility of Peter Obi winning the election. Some writers constantly deride Obi’s supporters, arguing that “he does not PeterObi He won't win. PeterObi Why not. Peter Obi is already winning. Asking whether Peter Obi will win is believing that Rigging will work in 2023. APC collusion with INEC will never work. Nigerian people and YOUTHS are wider. PeterObi This election will be least predictable election ever. It's election caught between old order and new order. The oldies are playing their last card and the youths are carrying the country to the next order which is structured in what a state is in actual sense.
